"Valoa ikkunassa" ("Light in the window") was the debut Finnish entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, performed in Finnish by Laila Kinnunen at the 1961 Contest. The song was performed fourth on the night, following Austria's Jimmy Makulis with "Sehnsucht" and preceding Yugoslavia's Ljiljana Petrović with "Neke davne zvezde". At the close of voting, it had received 6 points, placing 10th in a field of 16. The song is a ballad, with Kinnuen describing an evening scene in which all the lights of the buildings are gradually being switched off - with the exception of one, where a woman sings a song to her absent lover before falling asleep to dream of him. It was succeeded as Finnish representative at the 1962 Contest by Marion Rung with "Tipi-tii".
